Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the most streamed song within six months. The song is a blend of reggaeton, pop and rock did not just bring interest in reggaeton but also drew interest to Latin music in general. The Billboard Top 100 in 2015 had two songs mostly of Spanish and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, at the height of popularity for Despacito 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish have made it into the Billboard Top 100. By 2020 it will have 41 hits in this category. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna teamed up with Maluma on Medellin, 2019 The mainstreaming of reggaeton was a concern for some performers during the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, wanted to preserve the style. The genre often incorporated electronic dance, as well as other styles.
